The Historic Commission was created as a result of the Manheim Central Region’s 1993 Comprehensive Plan. Its official function is to provide information and recommendations to the zoning officer when building permits are requested in the Historic District. Five residents make up the Commission which meets on the second Monday of the every month at 7 pm. Residents are encouraged to attend meetings and provide their input.
The Historic Commission members work with residents to help improve their homes and businesses. Modern materials and construction techniques can be suggested that maintain the historic character of Manheim while providing ease of maintenance as well as budget friendly options. A list of resources for alternative materials and local tradesmen are provided on the website to help residents being to plan renovations.
