It should be noted that state law provides for individuals to make decisions on which hospital to be transported to regardless of the EMS agency providing the service unless the specific medical needs dictate otherwise, so the designation of Life Lion will have no effect on which hospital a person may choose to be transported to.
The existing NWEMS building located in Manheim Borough is owned by NWEMS. The borough has expressed its intent to purchase the property, which may be accomplished through negotiations or through the eminent domain process. The ordinance necessary to allow for the eminent domain process was advertised and made available for public review in accordance with all applicable state laws. At the 10/31/23 public meeting of borough council, a motion was made and seconded to adopt the ordinance, and everyone in attendance was provided the opportunity for further discussion and comments prior to council’s vote. No comments were made, and the motion to adopt the ordinance was approved unanimously.
